A new minimum wage was determined in Türkiye, the minimum wage to be applied in 2023 is 10 thousand 008 TL in gross and 8 thousand 506.8 TL in net.
The announcement was made by the President of the Republic of Türkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
Announcing the absolute minimum wage as 8 thousand 500 TL, Erdoğan stated that an interim arrangement could be made in 2023 if necessary.
Representing the workers’ side in the minimum wage negotiations, the Confederation of Turkish Trade Unions (Türk-İş), demanded the new minimum wage to be 9 thousand TL.
The net minimum wage in force in Turkey since July is 5 thousand 500 TL. Thus, an increase of 54.66 percent was made in the minimum wage compared to July. Compared to January, the increase was 84 percent.
The hunger limit data of Türk-İş’s “Hunger and Poverty Line Survey” for November was 7,785 TL.
Inflation in Türkiye was announced as 84.39 percent on an annual basis in November, according to the data of the Turkish Statistical Institute. The ENAG group, which is made up of independent economists, announced that annual inflation was 170.70 percent.
