Russia Extends Diplomatic Reach: Moscow to Open Consulate in TRNC, Reports TASS News Agency.

The TASS news agency announced to the world that Moscow had decided to open a consulate in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus. Moscow has announced to the whole world what step it is taking regarding the TRNC. According to the Russian press, a Russian consulate is allowed in the TRNC. TASS News Agency announced that the Russian Embassy in South Cyprus is dramatically increasing the load on consular services in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.

“In the near future we will start providing consular services in the northern part of the city of Lefkoscha,” a source at the embassy said.

“The decision to provide consular services in the north of Cyprus (TRNC) has no political significance/consequence and was made out of necessity for the Russians there,” said the Russian Ambassador to Cyprus. According to the data received, more than 50,000 Russian citizens live in the TRNC.
