Prime Minister of the TRNC Ünal Üstel Inspects Construction of Kayalar – Sadrazamköy RoadErsin Tatar, announced that the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is open to cooperating with the Greek side on energy issues
Prime Minister of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), Ünal Üstel, along with Minister of Transport Erhan Arıklı and Minister of Tourism Fikri Ataoğlu, conducted an inspection of the ongoing construction of the Kayalar – Sadrazamköy road. The project is being implemented within the framework of the TRNC Road Network Development Master Plan and aims to improve transport accessibility and road safety in the region.
The total length of the new road is 15 kilometers. The first 7 kilometers, stretching to the exit of the village of Kayalar, will be 5–6 meters wide. The remaining 8 kilometers pass through a Specially Protected Mediterranean Natural Area and will have a narrower width of 4–5 meters in order to meet environmental protection requirements.
Prime Minister Üstel emphasized the importance of adhering to deadlines and quality standards, noting that the modernization of the country’s transport infrastructure is one of the government’s top priorities.
During the visit, he also provided updates on other key infrastructure projects:
- The construction of the Karaoğlanoğlu – Alsancak – Lapta road is nearing completion.
- Work will soon begin on connecting Lapta, Geçitköy, Çamlıköy, and Yılmazköy to Lefkoşa.
- Construction has officially commenced on the Kyrenia – Çatalköy road.
Minister of Transport Erhan Arıklı added that the new Kayalar road will serve as an important logistical link, while Minister of Tourism Fikri Ataoğlu expressed confidence that improved transport infrastructure will positively impact the region’s tourism sector.
The completion of the Kayalar – Sadrazamköy road marks another significant step in the sustainable development of Northern Cyprus and in enhancing the quality of life for its residents.
