Opening of a new terminal in Ercan
Deputy Prime Minister of Northern Cyprus F. Ataoglu, who is also the Minister of Tourism, inspected the erected building of the Ercan airport terminal, which has not yet been held at the airport.
Together with him, the event was attended by his deputy S. Aktunch, the general director of the airport S. Ozcelik, as well as the staff of the facility dealing with technical issues.
A high-ranking official predicts that there will be an increased risk of increased tourist flow in 2023. The official opening of the facility on November 15, when the country celebrates the emergence of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus.
This initiative is probably the arrival of a large number of tourists who arrive in the TRNC from Turkish airports.
Thanks to the possibility of using the new terminal building, the local airport can be used as an energy source for up to 26 years.
Prior to this, Ercan Airport had the capacity to serve easily accessible sizes. In addition, due to the attraction of large aircraft, the cost of air travel in Northern Cyprus becomes much cheaper.
At the moment, it remains only to carry out work related to providing the airport with light and supply, after which the stage of preparation for opening begins.
Initially, this facility is due for completion in the autumn of 2020, but COVID-19 restrictions delayed the process and the opening was postponed to a later date.
