Will there be direct flights from Russia to Northern Cyprus?

Recep Tayyip Erdogan noted that he would support the opening of direct flights from Russian cities to Ercan Airport (TRNC). When answering questions that were asked by media representatives in New York after the completion of the official visit in connection with the NATO General Assembly, he stressed that he had already mentioned the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus during a conversation with the President of the Russian Federation.

What Erdogan said about planned flights to TRNC

On this occasion, the Turkish leader expressed the following thought:

“Tourism is one of the most profitable activities for Northern Cyprus. I believe that the intensification of the tourist flow will provide a significant improvement in the economy of the region. Modern tourist infrastructure has been created here. I am convinced that this achievement will significantly strengthen the position of the TRNC as a resort area. I am sure that after the recognition of the republic, the future of the country will be completely different.”

The Russian side has not yet commented on flights to Northern Cyprus.
