Airport opening Ercan
Reliable sources confirm that Ercan Airport is finally ready to move to a new terminal on Thursday evening, July 20.
The current terminal will be closed for all flights starting from the evening of July 20.
The Department of Civil Aviation has issued a Notice to Aviators (NOTAM) about this significant change. According to the NOTES, Ercan Airport will be unavailable for boarding and departure from 19:00 on Thursday, July 20, to 07:00 on July 21.
By Friday, July 21, the new terminal and runway will be fully operational.
Obtaining the necessary permits and preparing for relocation went smoothly, insider sources report.
There is a high probability that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, visiting the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on July 20 for a peacekeeping operation, will hold an official opening.
It is expected that President Erdogan’s plane will land on the existing runway and take off with the help of a new one.
In 2013, T&T Airport, owned by Emrullah Turanli Tas Yap! in the Turk, received
a special permit for the operation, construction and management of existing and
new airports of the Ussap. Initially scheduled for completion in the second half of 2018, the new terminal faced delays.
Key features of the new terminal:
— Terminal area of 128,000 square meters, 85,000 square meters allocated for
indoor and outdoor parking, as well as a new MR building.
— Entrances equipped with eight X-ray devices (four on each side).
— 60 check-in points to facilitate passenger flow. Luggage will be safely transported to the plane by descent of 15 meters, untouched by electronic systems and security devices.
— 4.5-kilometer baggage line.
— Initial passenger capacity of 10 million, with provisions for future expansion.
— Forty-four passport control points, including 24 for departing passengers and 20 for arriving passengers with disabilities and special passes.
— Separate entrances for service and passenger cars to increase safety.
— The length of the runway is 3200
