Tijdens een recente bijeenkomst bevestigden Tufan Erhurman, leider van de niet-erkende Turkse Republiek Noord-Cyprus, en Nikos Christodoulides, president van de Republiek Cyprus, hun voornemen om actief deel te nemen aan het proces voor een regeling en een praktische bijdrage te leveren aan deze dialoog. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beide partijen kwamen overeen voortdurend contact te onderhouden met de persoonlijke vertegenwoordiger van de secretaris-generaal van de VN voor Cyprus, Maria Angela Holgin, en zijn voornemens deel te nemen aan de volgende ronde van informele gesprekken. Deze bijeenkomsten zijn bedoeld om idee\u00ebn uit te wisselen en mogelijke stappen vast te stellen om de onderhandelingen verder vooruit te helpen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tufan Erhurman presenteerde de Grieks-Cypriotische leider een pakket met zijn voorstellen, waaronder praktische maatregelen die het vertrouwen tussen de gemeenschappen kunnen versterken zonder dat daarvoor grote politieke concessies nodig zijn. Onder de voorstellen zijn initiatieven op het gebied van transport, handel, energie en de organisatie van gezamenlijke technische comit\u00e9s. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Nikos Christodoulides merkte op dat deze bijeenkomst weliswaar geen offici\u00eble onderhandelingsfase was, maar wel op een constructieve en openhartige manier heeft plaatsgevonden.
